If you’re willing to look outside of Arizona’s major cities, you can find some decently sized homes at relatively low prices.

If you’re willing to look outside of Arizona’s major cities, you can find some decently sized homes at relatively low prices. 

Arizona is experiencing a housing shortage, which has driven up rent and home prices and kept people out of the market. 

According to Zillow, the median list price for a home in Phoenix was $469,667 as of Feb. 28, while in Tucson it was $366,667.

Some people, especially those who have flexibility with remote work, have looked to rural areas of Arizona for cheaper homes—and sometimes those less expensive homes come with extra space. 

Here are some houses that are over 2,000 square feet and listed on Zillow for under $300,000, as of April 2: 

Holbrook

Navajo County, three-hour drive from downtown Phoenix

Here’s a big house for not-so-big money. This 2,486-square-foot home is listed for $274,900 and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. 

The house was built in 1968 and has a large fenced-in backyard and a den with a fireplace.

Springerville

This home listed for $268,000 gets you just over 2,000 square feet, five bedrooms, and two bathrooms.  

It was built in 1974 and has a back deck.

In Snowflake, you can get a 2,448-square-foot home for a list price of $298,000
