Those who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s remember the days where you’d gather all of the old games you didn’t play anymore – maybe even an entire console – and lug it into the local GameStop to trade them in for the newest releases.

Now, GameStop is upping the ante with their first-ever “Trade Anything Day” that will allow people to trade in anything they want – with some restrictions – for store credit on Saturday, Dec. 6.

In an email to USA TODAY, GameStop stated that whatever item customers are choosing to trade in must fit in a 20x20x20 box. Oh, and customers will only be able to trade in one item.

Here’s everything you need to know about GameStop’s first “Trade Anything Day.”

What is GameStop Trade Anything Day?

GameStop’s first-ever “Trade Anything Day” allows customers to bring one item in that can fit in a 20x20x20 box and receive store credit for that item.

At the time of reporting, there is no word on how the value of the items being traded in will be determined or if GameStop Pro members will earn more for their trade-in. However, GameStop revealed to USA TODAY that more guidelines will be coming soon.

When is GameStop’s Trade Anything Day?

GameStop’s “Trade Anything Day” will be on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025.

What can be traded in?

According to USA TODAY, almost anything can be traded in as long as it fits in the 20x20x20 box including crafts and even taxidermy.

What cannot be traded in?

USA TODAY reports that GameStop will not accept the following items:

  • Hazardous waste, material, chemicals or liquids
  • Lithium-ion batteries or items containing lithium-ion batteries

  • Dead or alive animals, not including taxidermied animals
