I noticed something interesting while I was out grabbing tea at Lola Coffee this week.

This new apartment complex in downtown Phoenix called ECO PHX had its roof covered in solar panels. I looked up its website and found out there’s a rooftop deck up there, too, with a pool and hot tub.

The solar isn’t just for show—according to the complex, it can offset residents’ energy costs by up to 50%.

Some of the other sustainability-minded perks of the complex include:

  • electric vehicle charging stations
  • double insulated walls
  • energy-efficient windows
  • water reclamation used to maintain landscaping
  • on-site car-sharing program

Of course, like other complexes downtown, units aren’t cheap—studios start at $1,545, one-bedroom units at $1,779, and two-bedrooms at $2,775.

But if you’re someone who values these kinds of amenities and can afford it, or if you’re just curious, it may be worth taking a tour.
