A 2-year-old dog named Mars has been at Arizona Animal Welfare League’s (AAWL) Phoenix shelter for over 300 days.

The animal rescue is trying to find Mars an adopter, or at least a foster parent who can give him a break from the shelter environment.

AAWL says that Mars needs a home with adults or older children who can give him some space. He can’t live with cats, and any families that already have dogs would need to introduce Mars first to see if the animals are compatible.

AAWL calls Mars a “staff and volunteer favorite” and says he enjoys long walks and hikes.

Mars is currently at AAWL’s main shelter at 40th and Washington streets in Phoenix. His adoption fee has been waived, so he is free to take home.
